Mora početi. Liberty ne može više čekati jer će ugroziti stabilnost i održivost sporta.pigmalion je napisao/la: 19.06.2020., 11:48 Imam neki...... čudan predosjećaj da sezona 2020.-a neće niti početi 3.7.2020. ( cijeli GP vikend ).

Ferrari sees itself clearly behind Mercedes and Red Bull. That is why Maranello is now moving in a different direction. Team boss Mattia Binotto promises a new SF1000 from the third race of the season.
S at the latest now the Ferrari fans' hope for the big bluff is gone. Shortly before the start of the season in Austria, team boss Mattia Binotto once again confirms that his team did not hold back on the winter test drives. But that Ferrari is simply slower than Mercedes and Red Bull.
The SF1000 in Barcelona made a particularly quick impression, neither in the corners nor on the straights. The optimists thought Ferrari was four tenths behind Mercedes. The pessimists spoke of six tenths - or even more.
Radical aero changes to the SF1000
Ferrari had expected more. The SF1000 was supposed to be a car that Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc could use to fight for the World Championship. However, the winter test drives in Barcelona led team leaders and engineers to realize that the pilots did not have the right vehicle in their hands.
"We had to understand why we weren't getting the results we were expecting on the racetrack, and to deduce how much we had to realign our program," reports Binotto. The conclusion: The SF1000 needs a radical change to take on the competition.
Ferrari used the mandatory break between the test drives and Austria to start the vehicle development again. "We had five and a half weeks in which we could work on the car. We used it," says the race director. The rest of the time, the engineers' hands were tied. The FIA prohibited the teams from working on their cars for more than nine weeks. The factories had to close. But the engineers were able to think about what was wrong with the SF1000 and what it needed. Ideas don't have a summer break.
Tests lead to rethinking
"The truth is that the outcome of the test drives led us to make a significant change in direction - especially in terms of aerodynamics," explains Binotto. "It would have been counterproductive if we had simply pursued our original development plan. We would not have achieved our goals. So we decided on a completely new program that affects the entire car Season will be ready, but it gives us better chances for the season. "
Ferrari didn't just make the test drives rethink. The Formula 1 timetable may also have played its part. Because of the corona pandemic, the rule revolution was postponed from 2021 to 2022. This saves the teams a double development this year. Wind tunnel and CFD tests with the 2022 models are only allowed again from January.
The shift means that the teams basically drive a car for two years. Especially since a large part is gradually frozen and development in these areas is then hardly possible. The teams only have two jokers, so-called tokens, to further develop homologated parts. The aerodynamics remain free from the restrictions.
And that's where Ferrari will start. In the knowledge that the SF1000 should not only be used in 2020 but also in 2021, Ferrari has rescheduled. Otherwise, you would have consciously taken the risk of going behind for two seasons. Such a long time in the Valley of Tears, Ferrari can't sell its Tifosi. As is well known, patience is not their strength.
New Ferrari from Hungary
This is how Ferrari takes the effort to make the SF1000 a winner. Ferrari wants to reap the first fruits of the hard work at the third race of the season in Hungary. "Our goal is to have the updates ready by then," says Binotto. Ferrari will have to saddle downforce. For this, the front wing should be redesigned and the remaining aerodynamics should then be aligned. Modeled on Mercedes and Red Bull.
Ferrari has remained true to its philosophy of steeply falling flaps to the surprise of some experts in the paddock. They also missed innovations. While Mercedes and Red Bull shone with new ideas, for example in the area of suspensions, the SF1000 looked boring.
And then Ferrari also lost its engine advantage. The six-cylinder turbo from Maranello was no longer the measure of all things during the winter test drives. The paddock immediately established a connection between the apparent loss of power and the FIA investigation into the 2019 Ferrari engine. Ferrari, on the other hand, blamed it on the downforce won in favor of air resistance. You could put it another way. Ferrari had bought downforce at the expense of top speed. But not enough to keep up with the competition at least in the corners. Maranello needs to improve.
In Austria, drivers and engineers will have to make do with the package of winter test drives. After all, Binotto promises that Ferrari understood his car better. Sebastian Vettel and Charles Leclerc did their part with simulator work. The SF1000 is said to have become a better racing car. And then there is hope that the route characteristics of the Red Bull Ring fit the current package better than Barcelona
