You arrive at the end of 2014, with the dream of imitating your idol Schumi: what comes to mind when you think back to those days?
"Sergio Marchionne on the phone: "Why don't we build something together, would you like to help us bring Ferrari back to win?". I told him yes.
What was the environment like?
"There was a lot of hope. From me too. Even as a child, the Prancing Horse was a legend, thanks to Michael's legacy.
Your first day in Maranello as a driver?
"On 29 November 2014, in Fiorano. I was excited, but also focused on the intense programme. I had already filmed there with the Toro Rosso, but with the Rossa everything changed. I will never forget it".
The most beautiful victories?
"Malaysia 2015, second race, a wonderful start. And Monte Carlo 2017".
Marchionne, who was it for you?
"A very powerful man, sometimes impetuous, had a lot of influence in F1 too. He was not an easy guy, he was difficult to argue with. But everyone respected him. His disappearance was a shock for us".
And Maurizio Arrivabene?
"From outside he was not understood, he played a very important role in the relaunch. I immediately had a good time with him, despite some difficulties. There was trust between us, he faced complicated periods. It's hard to be team principal when you're close to the goal and then you don't reach it. I learned a lot from Maurizio".
How close were you to the World Cup in those years there?
"What's the point of thinking about it again? I look ahead. Anyway, I reply: in 2017 the car was very competitive. The following year we had a better "package" with more potential. But we weren't able to develop it to fight in the final phase of the championship, so we didn't win.
Regrets?
"No, things happen for a reason. For better or for worse. Yes, we could have gone better, it would have been nice to win the World Championship. But in those moments we did what we thought was right".
Moving on to 2019, comes Charles Leclerc. Is this the beginning of the end of your Ferrari adventure?
"It's not about Charles. He has to look at the journey as a whole: after the peaks of 2017 and 2018, last year there was no progression and this year it was even more complicated for several reasons. And yet we pushed hard to become competitive again. But I don't think like that, on the ups and downs: I've been part of this team for six years and I was the first one to want to help recover".
When Mattia Binotto called you to tell you that he would not renew your contract, did you feel betrayed?
"No.
How is your relationship?
"Good, it's professional. I am old enough to understand and accept decisions. I had a long time to think about the afterwards. I don't hold grudges, I'm not the type".
You were back on the podium in Turkey, but 2020 was a tough year. Why? Didn't the car fit your driving style?
"That's not the problem, a driver adapts. Certainly my exit from the team (announced before the start of the World Cup) didn't help, it wasn't the same situation as before. And yet I was trying, suffering in qualifying and then in the race I was stuck in traffic. But even this experience has made me grow, now I am much more positive than I was 4-5 months ago. I look ahead: 3 more GPs with Ferrari to do well and then the new challenge. I know I'll have fun".
With the Aston-Martin, you seems optimistic.
"I am by nature. I expect good things.
How did Lawrence Stroll convince you?
"He's a very successful businessman, he's proven he knows how to make the right decisions. The negotiations were straightforward and honest from the start. It's a special situation, my partner will be his son Lance. We are all very motivated.
Do you still think you can win another title after the 4 with Red Bull?
"Let's be honest: now only the driver of a Mercedes can win it. But I'm happy where I'm going, we have the potential to impress. And then in 2022 the rules will change, never say never".
Did you ask Riccardo Adami, your faithful track engineer, to follow you?
"I think Riccardo will stay at Ferrari, we've known each other forever and he's a friend. He's one of those who represent Ferrari's values, if the brand is unique it's because there are people like that at Maranello.
Is it true that he has kept all his notebooks since 2007? What is he doing with them?
"The diaries don't get thrown away, maybe I'll keep them for the rest of my life. Sometimes I reread them to remind myself of how I've dealt with some episodes. Who I talked to, who they told me".
How many Ferraris do you have in your garage?
"I won't tell you, tell me about yours instead".

Adami ne ide, ali zato jedna i jedina Britta Roeske prelazi s Vettelom u Aston Martin. Pretpostavljam da ce s njima zajedno preci i Antti Konstas.

Gledam ovaj napad Leclera na Vettela i nekako mi je krivo. Ja sam prije svega navijač Ferrarija. Sjećam se da sam Vettela baš mrzio kada nas je pobjeđivao sa Red Bullom. Kada je došao u Ferrari nisam ga ni dalje gotivio, mnogo više sam navijao za Raikonena. Naravno, bitno mi je prije svega da Ferrari pobjeđuje. Vremenom me Vettel kupio, ali prije svega svojim stavom, izjavama, odnosom... To je čovjek koji je u osnovi jako prost i jedino što mu treba je sigurnost okoline u kojoj se nalazi. Moguće da sam se baš u tom rezonu poistovjetio s njim, odnosno uspio se identifikovati. Jako mi je žao što odlazi iz Ferrarija, i jako mi je krivo kako se tim ponio prema njemu.
Što se tiče Leclerca, podijeljen sam jako. Kako sam već rekao najbitnije mi je da Ferrari pobjeđuje, ali kada bih mogao da biram neka to bude Sainz. Leclerc je možda uglađen pred kamerama i jako socijalno inteligenta, ali on je od prvog dana u Ferrariju imao na nišanu samo Vettela. Uspio je u tome da ekipu okrene sebi, i treba momku čestitati na tome, to nije mala stvar. Očito je da su u menadzmentu vidjeli nešto u njemu, ali to sa sobom nosi i teret siguran sam. Ako Ferrari kroz par godina ne složi konkurentan bolid ili ga još skarabudži da on izgleda barem dijelom konkurentan kao 2018. a naslov ne sleti u Maranello, mislim da će to biti mnogo ružniji kraj ljubavi nego sa Vettelom. Moj favorit u narednom periodu je Sainz, koji je i danas svojim stavom i voznjom naznačio da nije vozač koji ce doci tek tako na noge Leclercu, već da ima šta pokazati u tom crvenom bolidu.
Vettel će postati prvi vozač od kada pratim F1 da ću za njega navijati ili ga makar zdušno podržavati i kada skine crveni kombinezon.
A što se tiče Ferrarija, vjerujući u sinusoidu života, siguran sam da će na čelo opet u nekom momentu doći čvrsta i pametna ruka koja če postaviti stvari onako kako je nepohodno da bi se osvojio naslov. Do tada, ide gas i uzivanje u F1, kakva god ona bila u odredjenom momentu, jer ja bez F1 ne mogu.

Šteta zbog načina na koji završava priču u Ferrariju. Jer je tu bilo puno više pozitivnog od negativnog, a negativno je praktički ostavljeno za sam kraj i to će većina pamtiti. Valjda idu bolji dani za obje strane.

Nazalost zadnje dvije sezone su donijele dosta loseg za Seba i pokvarile sveopci utisak o njegovom stintu u Ferrariju, ali i o njemu samome. Ferrari tu dijeli slicnost sa Real Madridom u tretmanu svojih asova, ali hajde nije to sad tema.
U Ferrariju smo gledali zrelog Seba, puno privlacniju personu od onog na momente jako iritantnog klinca u Red Bullu. Imao je jako dobrih trenutaka sa Ferrarijem, pobjede u Monacu 2017, Kanadi, Britaniji i Belgiji 2018, sjajna voznja u Njemackoj 2019, pa i pobjeda u Singapuru 2019 je bila na svoj nacin posebna jer se u njoj dosta nepravde naizgled ispravilo. A i njegov gospodski odnos prema mehanicarima i ekipi koja ga je toliko puta izdala je mozda i najveca njegova pobjeda.
Ni Prost, ni Mansell, ni Alesi ni Alonso nisu uspjeli biti prvaci sa Ferrarijem i to donekle moze biti utjeha, mada nikad u potpunosti.
Jednostavno on i Ferrari nisu bili dobar spoj na duze staze, bili su dobri kao sprinteri, ali ne kao maratonci i imali su protivnika koji je u svakom trenutku bio ravnopravan ili bolji.
To sve pokazuje da je Sebu taj ogromni uspjeh, izjednacavanje rekorda i 4 titule prvaka zaredom u nekoj siroj slici ipak doslo malkice prerano i on jednostavno nije mogao u haoticnoj sredini kao sto je Ferrari izdrzati takav pritisak na plecima. Steta, ostaje zal za tom 2018.
U svakom slucaju imali smo privilegiju da gledamo velikog sampiona u najvecoj momcadi i imamo privilegiju da ga gledamo i ubuduce i to nadam se u zelenoj britanskoj boji poput prekrasnih bolida Jaguar Coswortha

Jedva čekam da vidim kakvu će kacigu imati u Aston Martinu. Ako bolid bude zelen, kako najavljuju, mogla bi i Vettelova kaciga pozeleniti. Ja se nadam da će biti nešto kao ova, samo sa zelenom bojom umjesto bijele. Znam da je zelena kao neka britanska racing boja. Ali na primjer i Njemačka fudbalska reprezentacija zna igrati u zelenim dresovima. Pretpostavljam da će biti tamno zelena.
Ali kakva god bude, ne sumnjam da će nas ponovo oduševiti.
