1 - MERCEDES
The team that has dominated the length and breadth of last season also appeared in these pre-season testing at a level unattainable for all other teams . Thanks to the changes made āāto the Power Unit 2015, the 059/4, Ferrari may have a year of 60In hp more than the version of PU last year, but mostly it was done a lot of work on the electrical and recovery energy dall'MGU-H. Just as in Ferrari, also the Finnish home Williams seems to have got the most out of the FW37 last qualifying simulation performed, the last day of the Test. 4 - TORO ROSSO

5 - REDBULL
Newey & Co are the real big unknown of this first part of the season. The big disappointment for me, these pre-season testing in 2015 is the Lotus. Thanks to the changes made āāto the Power Unit 2015, the 059/4, Ferrari may have a year of 60In hp more than the version of PU last year, but mostly it was done a lot of work on the electrical and recovery energy dall'MGU-H. Although the PU 2015 Ferrari consumes even slightly "too much" of what was expected (and PU Mercedes), the step taken by the two pilots has been very steady, a sign of a good use of the electrical part. 3 - WILLIAMS

modifications to the front
The FW37 seems to have maintained that excellent speed characteristic that has characterized the past year, combining better traction thanks to a modified version of the rear suspension. The Grove team was the first to show us one of the best versions (along with that Mercedes) from snout to the interpretation of the new Technical Regulations 2015. It is to emphasize the great work done by the technicians Williams, as were the first to pass the crash test with that type of nose, not just stuff! Just as Mercedes, the FW37 has impressed me in the insertion of the curve "La Caixa" . This is also confirmed by the numbers: as written previously in the section dedicated to Ferrari, the last stretch of the Barcelona circuit the FW37 has defended very well against a car stratospheric which is the W06, but most managed to do better than the Ferrari (RedBull unfortunately has "little" in this analysis, since the fuel load and the tires Soft).
Now we compare the best lap performed by a Williams driver, in this case Bottas (on tires Super Soft), with the best lap possible putting together the best three sectors.
BEST LAP - WILLIAMS (Bottas - SUPERSOFT): 1.23.063
IDEAL LAP - WILLIAMS: 1.23.016 (+0.327 seconds from Mercedes)
Just as in Ferrari, also the Finnish home Williams seems to have got the most out of the FW37 last qualifying simulation performed, the last day of the Test. There is definitely to underline the fact that the technicians of the English team have thought not to discover too, especially in qualifying simulation (but also in the race simulation), embarking more fuel than necessary and not squeezing thoroughly Power Unit Mercedes (no button "magic" for them).
As for the race pace , Williams did not complete a real race simulation except by Wolff in the early days of testing in the Catalan city. I took three stints Bottas that resemble a race simulation "thinly disguised". The fact is that the English team has decided to stay on a classic strategy with two pit stops. Bottas has used a strategy similar to that chosen by Mercedes, which were only used hard tires. Our calculations lead to this pace for Williams Bottas:

My idea is that Williams will be hidden and there did see its true potential. I would put the FW37 in second place at about 5-6 tenths from Mercedes and ahead of about 2/10 to Ferrari.
4 - TORO ROSSO
For Toro Rosso, Lotus, Force India and Sauber, analysis focused only on race pace and not on the lap not to prolong the release of this article.
The team of Faenza, born from the ashes of Minardi, was the big surprise of these tests. In the Catalan city has fallen from a truck version B of the car presented at that Jerez. Numerous "technical" amendments, I go here to list:

The Toro Rosso STR10 seems the best car ever built by the Italian team. This season 2015, there will be two young men at the helm; especially one, Verstappen, will make us see beautiful things. In Barcelona, āāthe Dutch driver has already shown to all those in charge at the stable, with a teammate, always art son of surname Sainz, for now "speechless" (the only gasp in qualifying simulation, a simple "event") and that he could not even respond to the sound of fast laps (but only with bad "laments," I'll stop here!).
The problem of the Italian team called Renault , and the situation is similar if not worse than that which is living RedBull. A lack become "chronic" CV (for now only 30 hp more than the Power Unit 2014) which unfortunately fails to shine the excellent aerodynamics this year on the STR10.
As for the race pace, Toro Rosso completed the simulation faster with Verstappen using a two-stop strategy. The Dutchman has carried out the first two stints with medium tires (used), then move to the harsh (new) in the last part of the race.

I place the Faenza-based team to fifth place overall behind Mercedes, Williams, Ferrari and Red Bull, but in front of his "real" ie rivals Lotus and Force India.
5 - REDBULL
Newey & Co are the real big unknown of this first part of the season. The RB11 did not show the full potential, but rather appeared to experts as a coach in difficulty, with engine problems in the first place (similar argument to the one made āājust above the Toro Rosso) and strangely problems downforce (numerous tests aerodynamic, never seen in the past years on the car designed by the genius Newey).
As for the "technique" that we love so much, unfortunately due to the failure of the crash test for the new nose, have not seen big news (that we will most likely see in Melbourne). The only view on the track, the beautiful solution designed for the rear wing endplate with a large vertical slot, useful to "stall" the endplate itself in certain situations to reduce drag .
Importantly Ricciardo is doing a big job, even with a means for now not up. Among other items inside the paddock, they want Newey & Co disappointed by his teammate, the Russian driver Kvyat, so as to suggest to an already Verstappen in RedBull in 2016 (although the idea would be to keep it in Toro Rosso until 2016 inclusive, to avoid burning). The RedBull, as well as the Mercedes for the Barcelona test has "ordered" to the Pirelli super soft compound tires, as it was deemed not suitable for that type of track by technicians of the Austrian team (what actually true, as pointed out in days after the test also by Pirelli).
Now we turn to a few numbers and compare the best lap performed by a pilot RedBull, Ricciardo (on tires Soft), with the best lap possible putting together the best three sectors.
BEST LAP - REDBULL (Ricciardo - SOFT): 1.24.638
IDEAL LAP - REDBULL: 1.24.638 (+1.949 seconds from Mercedes)
The pilot Italo-Australian home RedBull managed to bring out the best from his RB11. There definitely should be pointed out that the technicians of the Austrian team have decided to not to discover too, especially in qualifying simulation, embarking more fuel than necessary and not using softer tires that potevan give further 7-8 tenths bringing so the time to a high 1:23.
The RedBull focused perhaps most of all on race simulations stint performing many "long" with medium and hard tires . In my RedBull, although in view of difficulties, from fourth place overall in terms of the ranking of teams at the start of the league in 2015, about 1 second from Mercedes. The problems of chivalry and consumption, however, will soon be settled by Renault, otherwise Ricciardo & Co will risk making a poor season with an opponent more to fight for the podium, Ferrari. Sauber seemed pretty on the ball to Barcelona, āāalthough there were rumors in the paddock rather "strange", and I do not go over. A Force India that surprised, not so much for the lap times but for reliability shown, that was the real target of the Indian team in the past days in the Catalan city. Obviously they know too that there is still a lot of work to do; lost work, because of the huge economic problems that are afflicting even this team, it was important. Within the British Grand Prix technicians Force India will bring a B version of the car that will include a new nose (in "short" ) and a suspension innovative hydro-mechanical which could debut already in Spain.
8 - LOTUS
Our calculations lead to this pace for Lotus Maldonado:

The big disappointment for me, these pre-season testing in 2015 is the Lotus. Despite having lost a couple of days in that of Jerez, I would never have expected a race pace so slow in Barcelona by a car that I thought could immediately impress, thanks to the brand new Power Unit Mercedes. According to the engineers of the British team updates brought in the Catalan city have not fully functioned. 9 - MCLAREN
