Guanyu Zhou managed to take his first F2 victory, ahead of Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher. Jack Aitken and Luca Ghiotto, who had a terrible collision, taking the results from the 5th round, finished in fourth and fifth points, followed by Yuki Tsunoda. The last points were taken by Callum Ilott and Dan Ticktum.
Zhou defended his best position, while on the other hand, Mazepin had a weak start and Aitken immediately passed him to the second turn. Schumacher had a great start and from the eighth position to the second turn he was already in the fourth position. Like yesterday, in the aforementioned bend, we again saw give up. Guilherme Samaia went off the track over a large banner in a bend and ended up in the air where he caught the unfortunate Jake Hughes and they both had to give up because they had flat tires.
A lap after that, there was a virtual safety car on the track to clear debris, while a lap before that, Mazepin managed to regain his second position. After the continuation of the race, Schumacher approached Aitken and managed to pass it without any major problems. Daruvala had the same plan, but even though he came in front of the British with the help of the DRS, entering the second bend, he went off the track and had to give up the attack.
But in the eighth lap there was a red flag on the track. Aitken and Ghiotto started the fight for the position by entering the second turn. Ghiotto passed in front, but Aitken had a better exit and found himself on the inside of turn three where the drivers were side by side. The Briton went too wide towards the Italian for a short time, which resulted in contact, and both cars ended up in the wall at high speed. Fortunately, both drivers immediately got out of the car and headed to the medical center for an examination.
After 15 minutes, a decision was made that the race would not continue due to too much damage to the barriers, bringing Zhou his first win of the season, while Schumacher achieved another podium this season, the second this weekend. Drivers who finish in points will be awarded halved points.
